The Chair reserves the right to divide any Class into two or more sections should the number of entries warrant.

A family member is permitted to video or photograph (no flash) only their own family member during the Festival and Festival of Stars. All photos/video's taken must not include the adjudicator or audience members.

Proof of age may be required to be produced to the Chair at any time prior, during, or after the competition.

Repeats are not to be played except in the case of first and second endings and if the repeat is of short duration (e.g. approximately eight measures).

In “Own Choice” Classes, the selection must be of artistic merit comparable to the set pieces in the same section, otherwise 10% of the marks may be deducted.

Competitors may not perform a selection performed by them at previous competitions held by The Kiwanis Music and Arts Festival of St. Catharines.

An original copy of selection must be provided by the competitor for the Adjudicator prior to the start of class.  A selection within a book must be clearly marked and open to the first page of the composition. With the exception of Speech Arts, competitors must provide full original scores or text; all copyright laws must be observed.  PHOTOCOPIES or DIGITAL copies will not be accepted unless they show legal authorization from the publisher or copyright holder or proof of purchase (receipt).  In absence of a valid score or text being presented the Adjudicator may choose to adjudicate without assigning a mark. Student copies must be reclaimed at the secretary's desk immediately after the class.

Competitors must perform in the exact order indicated on the performance schedule. The Chair or Adjudicator reserves the right to change the order when necessary.

Competitors (male and female) are required to bow, not curtsy, at the conclusion of their performance.

In an Ensemble or Duet class, a competitor shall be permitted to perform more than once, provided such competitor performs a different part each time.   Age should be taken as the oldest competitor in the ensemble or duet.

A performance may be stopped at any time when the Adjudicator’s opinion has been formed.  The Adjudicator’s decision shall be final.

Competitors for the provincials who are chosen to represent St. Catharines Kiwanis Music Festival are responsible to know the rules of their discipline as written in the OMFA Provincial Syllabus. If chosen to perform at the 2020 provincials, an entry form will be provided, however it is the students responsibility to submit their own application to the provincial office.  OMFA website:
