MUSICAL THEATRE
It is the responsibility of each competitor to arrange for his or her own accompaniment. Professional accompanists should be contacted at least one month prior to the Festival. Your accompanist may charge a fee for both rehearsal time and Festival performance.
Songs should be age appropriate. Gender specific songs, which are required at Provincials, are recommended. Costumes and props are permitted (Note: Only two handheld props are allowed at the Provincial competition). Please use live (not recorded) accompaniment. Songs originally from movies, including movie musicals or animated films have a separate class under the Movie/Film or Disney Solo category.
It is not required to announce your name or selection. Costumes are optional, however musical theatre is telling a story therefore costumes will help you get into character.
